Shaping the Climate for Impact

As impact investors, the ABC Impact team embolden, encourage, and energise founders and companies to create solutions for a better world. We actively engender conditions in which innovations can flourish, incubating potential so that our portfolio companies can progress and thrive in their pursuit of impact. We see ourselves as engaged partners, shaping the ground for others to go ahead and go further.

The portfolio companies that we invest in are individually unique, each working on different solutions that address different environmental and societal challenges. However, they form part of a broader collective language of hope and change for our communities and the climate. When woven together in this Impact Report, their stories present a Tapestry of courage, commitment, and conviction.

Together with these intrepid change-makers, ABC Impact is proud to play a role in shaping tomorrow.

Creating the Conditions for Impact at Scale

Since our inception, we have been steadfastly shaping a portfolio dedicated to solutions that address the most pressing environmental and social problems in Asia. We screen and assess impact-driven companies with our strict evidence-based approach, partnering those with the potential to create positive change at scale. As impact investors, we aim to generate positive and measurable social or environmental outcomes, alongside a compelling risk-adjusted return for our investors.

There is no trade-off between impact and financial outcomes – both are equally important to us. Our portfolio companies operate in sectors such as water and climate, healthcare and education, financial and digital inclusion, as well as food and agriculture. By helping to create the right conditions for growth and innovation with our impact capital, commercial and technical competencies, and our global connectivity, we enable these innovative companies to generate impact at scale for communities and the environment.

OUR IMPACT MEASUREMENT AND MANAGEMENT (IMM) FRAMEWORK

The ability to translate impact intention to tangible, meaningful results is pivotal to the success of impact investing, and at ABC Impact, we are committed to actualising the positive power of private capital. We have integrated a proprietary impact and ESG management system into our investment process to ensure our purpose-driven companies deliver both attractive financial returns alongside tangible and meaningful change.

Impact Strategy & Framework

Our strategy mandates every company delivers a positive impact to the environment or drive inclusive growth in accordance with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This governs our impact investment process, thematic and sectoral scopes, and our fund-level theory of change. Our framework also underlines our approach to ESG and blueprints the strategic ways we report and implement impact management.

Portfolio Features

  • Kim Dental

Established in 2016, Kim Dental is changing the way oral and dental healthcare is delivered across Vietnam. The company aims to drive access and awareness at scale for communities in the country that require quality oral healthcare through their range of services, from basic preventive screenings to more advanced treatments for complicated oral diseases.

  • Innovafeed

Innovafeed fosters the resilience of our food systems in the face of current environmental risks, while simultaneously alleviating the pressure they place on our planet. The company’s insect protein alternatives for aquafeed enable aquaculture production to scale and meet fish consumption demands without its supply chains imposing the same threat to already vulnerable marine ecosystems. Beyond its promising solution, its industrial symbiosis model of production has also incorporated circular and vertical farming principles to minimise waste and lower emissions along its value chain.

  • HCAH

Through their suite of personalised and specialised out-of-hospital care solutions, HCAH has the two-fold ability to deliver both direct patient benefits and improvements to India's healthcare system. Their home-care and in-patient transition care services enable patients to access and afford the quality, patient-centred care they need for better health outcomes, while simultaneously providing alternative delivery structures that help to alleviate the strain on overburdened resources.

  • Iceotope

Iceotope contributes towards mitigating the adverse effects of the digital ecosystem on climate change by helping data centre owners and operators improve their sustainability and efficiency through reducing energy consumption, water use, and emissions. The company specialises in precision liquid cooling, a highly effective and innovative technology that cools data centres in a more resource-efficient manner - and is especially relevant for regions with tropical climates like Southeast Asia.
