Singapore, 15 June 2023 – Singapore private equity impact investor ABC Impact today announced that it has achieved the internationally recognised B Corporation™ (“B Corp”) certification – designating the fund as meeting high standards of social and environmental impact. The B Corp certification was awarded to its parent Temasek Trust Asset Management for business activities under the ABC Impact division, after a rigorous verification process administered by the non-profit B Lab.

B Impact Assessment
In order to achieve B Corp certification, companies must undergo a rigorous assessment known as the B Impact Assessment and verification process. To be certified, companies must demonstrate high social and environmental performance by achieving a B Impact Assessment score of 80 or above and pass the risk review.
Beginning in October 2022, ABC Impact underwent the B Impact Assessment over a period of eight months. The process evaluated the impact of the private equity fund’s operations and business model on its workers, customers, communities, and the environment. Its governance processes, including ethical standards and transparency practices, were also assessed.
Over 200,000 companies have used the B Impact Assessment since the beginning of the B Corp movement back in 2006. There are currently over 6900 Certified B Corporations in more than 90 countries and over 160 industries.
Shaping the Climate for Impact at Scale
Since its inception in 2019, ABC Impact has strived to explore, engage, and encourage the continued growth of impact champions for Asia, and in Asia. Through its professional, technical, and geographical mastery of impact at scale in Asia, the fund has invested over USD 200M across 11 companies to date.
By partnering high-potential founders and companies to generate solutions for the most pressing social and environmental problems, ABC Impact is creating the conditions for impact at scale in Asia. Its portfolio companies have generated impact outcomes such as:
- Avoiding over 1.68MT of CO2 emissions

Alignment to Global Standards
In 2022, ABC Impact adopted the Operating Principles for Impact Management. The fund also published its Disclosure Statement to describe its strategy and focus areas, and shared its proprietary IMM methodology designed to assess the impact of its portfolio. ABC Impact is also a signatory to the UN-backed Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), the world’s leading proponent of responsible investment. As a signatory, ABC Impact incorporates the PRI’s six principles for responsible investment into its investment and management practices to foster a more sustainable global economy.

B Corp Certification doesn’t just evaluate a product or service, it assesses the overall social and environmental impact of the company that stands behind it. To achieve B Corp Certification, a company must meet a score of at least 80 points on the B Impact Assessment, an evaluation of a company’s positive impact, and pass a risk review, an evaluation of a company’s negative impact; change their corporate governance structure to be accountable to all stakeholders, not just shareholders; and exhibit transparency by allowing information about their B Corp Certification performance to be publicly available on their B Corp profile on B Lab’s website.
