Singapore, 22 August 2022 – Singapore private equity impact investor ABC Impact today announced that it has adopted the Operating Principles for Impact Management ( “Impact Principles”) with its parent, Singapore-based global asset management firm Temasek Trust Asset Management, formally becoming a signatory. Led by International Finance Corporation, the Impact Principles were launched in 2019 and are designed to bring greater discipline, transparency and credibility to the impact investing market. Signatories are required to examine and monitor impact of their investments alongside financial returns.
Sugandhi Matta, Chief Impact Officer of ABC Impact, said, “Impact is at the core of everything that we do. Throughout our journey, we have continuously sought to improve our IMM by harmonising the global best practices and standards. Signing up to the Impact Principles further underlines our commitment towards the advancement of standards for IMM. Our first disclosure statement demonstrates our dedication towards building greater accountability, transparency, and standardization in impact investing management.”
ABC Impact is among a few institutions in Singapore and Southeast Asia to have adopted the Impact Principles. As part of its pledge and commitment to the industry standard for Impact Measurement and Management (“IMM”), the impact investor has published its first Disclosure Statement – available here. The Disclosure Statement affirms that it has established procedures that ensure investments are managed in alignment with the Impact Principles. This alignment has also been independently verified by impact verification specialist BlueMark.
The Disclosure Statement describes ABC Impact’s strategy and focus areas, as well as the proprietary IMM methodology it has developed to assess the impact of its portfolio. Founded in 2019, ABC Impact’s investment strategy is anchored on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and investments are directed at solutions that address the most pressing social and environment challenges. As at 31 July 2022, ABC Impact has invested in 9 companies through its inaugural USD 300M fund and made one exit.
“We’re pleased to welcome ABC Impact, through Temasek Trust Asset Management, as a signatory,” said Diane Damskey, Head of the Secretariat of the Impact Principles. “There has been strong growth in the adoption of the Impact Principles by impact investors in Asia, which will help increase the amount of capital dedicated to impact. We look forward to working with the team to continue to build on this growth in the months and years ahead.”
ABC Impact is also a signatory to the UN-backed Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), the world’s leading proponent of responsible investment. As a signatory, ABC Impact incorporates the PRI’s six principles for responsible investment into its investment and management practices to foster a more sustainable global economy.

About OPIM
The Impact Principles were launched by the International Finance Corporation in 2019 and now have over 100 signatories. The Impact Principles comprises nine principles covering the strategic intent at the onset of the investment through to the impact generated upon exit. These along with the requirement for independent verification provide a framework for investors to report on their impact management systems purposefully and reliably, enabling collective industry measurement and alignment. The Impact Principles also serve as a reference point against which impact-intentioned funds and institutions may be assessed.
